3 Unique Museums in NYC

Written by: Candice Rose

What do you think of when you think of a museum? Is it boring, is it fascinating? Do you think of art in the sense of paintings and sculptures or mirror tricks and exciting themed rooms. If you are like a large group of people, then you’ll be happy to know that both styles exist right here in the Big Apple. Here are my three suggestions of must see museums to possibly change your perspective on Museums.

The Museum of Illusions.

This museum located on the corner of 8th avenue and W 14th street aims to intrigue your perception of things and play interesting mind games. A wide range of exhibits are installed to deceive the eye including kaleidoscopes & holograms, plus tilted & reverse rooms. A perfect location for an interesting photo-opp, a date or with loved ones and children. College students do receive a discount on tickets as well as seniors and children. Enjoy the mental roller coaster!

Museum of Ice Cream

An unconventional museum perfect for a hot summer day or even if you’re just in the mood for a treat. As a fellow ice cream lover, I’ll tell you first don’t go there with a full stomach. Throughout your visit you will have a complimentary 21+ drink and 5-6 different servings of ice cream. There are multiple rooms, each decorated with a whimsical desert theme, which is perfect for racking up content if you’re a creator; or just having fun and taking cute pictures. Enjoy the slide and other attractions while you enjoy the amazing assortment of frozen delights.

Rise NY

This New York City themed museum takes you in a time machine back to the year of 1904 and takes you through the evolution of NYC to the “Big Apple” we know it to be today. Located in Time Square, the museum starts with an immersive experience detailing the build of the first subway station and ending with a flight-simulated ride through the city as it is today. Each room is dedicated to a different mediums of the culture from radio and film to fashion and architecture. A perfect place to learn about the city as a tourist or a native of the city.
